Validity of the DEXA Scanning Procedure

In vivo scanning of the human skeleton by dual-energy xray absorptiometry (DEXA) in order to carry out non-invasive total body or regional assessments of bone mineral density (BMD), bone mineral content (BMC) or soft tissue composition This paper reviews the validity of the DEXA scanning procedure as applied to neonates and in particular and attempts to quantify the uncertainty caused by movement of the baby during the scan.
