Protection for nurses during radiotherapy

Nurses caring for patients undergoing radiotherapy for cancer need to be aware of and follow guidelines on the correct procedures. A combination of measures have been taken to minimise the risk of contamination during treatments. This report summarises the results of radiation doses to nurses. In general the doses are as low as reasonably practicable. They give reassurance to nurses of the effectiveness of good practice, as laid down in the local rules. An open learning programme on the subject of radiation protection is currently being developed.
