The demand on our multidisciplinary services continues to rise and we remain responsive to changes in clinical practices. Innovative clinical procedures developed and implemented by the Department to improve patient care have now become firmly established in several Trusts. Whilst physiological measurement examinations are provided at almost all our Units, the range of procedures varies to reflect local demands.
More than 100,000 patient investigations or treatments per annum are undertaken by the Department's staff and services provided for a wheelchair population which now exceeds 60,000. In addition, we continue to collaborate with medical colleagues in providing scientific and technical support for patients examined or treated in clinical specialities which include Radiotherapy, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Dermatology, Urology, Cardiology and Audiology.
