The Durham Unit of the Regional Medical Physics Department is based at the University Hospital of North Durham, Durham. The hospital's main entrance is off Southfield Way. The Regional Medical Physics Department is at the north end of the hospital. There is a charge for parking. Please allow plenty of time before your appointment if arriving by car. Due to the extensive building work the patient car park is about 400 yards from the Medical Physics Department on the south side of the hospital. The entrance to the car park is via the Southfield Way entrance The entrance to the hospital is situated directly opposite the car park, access to the main hospital corridor is via stairs or lift.

There is a charge for parking. Charges and availability may change at short notice. Please check on-site notice boards when you arrive.
There are 245 public car parking spaces, 42 public disabled spaces and three short stay (or drop off) zones available.
Access from the north and south is via the A1(M), exiting at junction 62 onto the A690 sign posted Durham. After two miles at the roundabout take the third exit continuing on the A690 and descend into Durham City. Go straight ahead at the roundabout then turn right at the next roundabout onto the A691. Ascend a steep hill keep in the left hand lane, pass a set of traffic lights and at the roundabout take the second exit onto Southfield Way (A691). The hospital's main entrance is on the right at the next roundabout.
Disembark at Newcastle International Airport. Take the Metro light rail service into Newcastle-Upon-Tyne changing at Central Station. A frequent rail service runs to Durham. There is a taxi rank outside Durham Railway Station and there is a nearby bus stop. The hospital is one mile away.
Disembark at Durham Railway Station. The station is about one mile from the hospital; a fit person may make the uphill walk in about 20 minutes. Taxis are available from the station and there is a nearby bus stop.
The coach and bus station is in the centre of Durham City in North Road. There is a frequent bus service to the hospital.

If you need an ambulance to take you to hospital, please ask your family doctor to arrange this.
If you have difficulty walking the WRVS provide an electric buggy to transport patients around the hospital, simply ask at the WRVS information desk found in the hospital main foyer for this service.
