The Darlington Unit of Regional Medical Physics Department is based at Darlington Memorial Hospital and forms part of the Durham Unit. A range of services is available to South Durham and North Yorkshire.
A comprehensive range of imaging and non-imaging diagnostic tests are carried out. We have a Siemens ECAM gamma camera linked to a Link MAPS 10000 image processing workstation plus beta and gamma counters. Radiopharmaceutical preparation and blood labelling are performed on-site in a dedicated radiopharmacy. Iodine-131 and Yttrium-90 therapies are administered for non-malignant conditions.
We offer a service to South Durham, including open access for local GPs. We have a Lunar DPX-1Q system which was installed in 1998.
We provide a local service for radiation protection advice with specialist support in diagnostic radiology and ultrasound provided from other RMPD units.
Support is provided for specialist requirements and investigations.
