What We Do

The South Tyneside Unit is based at South Tyneside District Hospital and provides Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Protection services to the South Shields area. There are close links with our parent Unit based at Sunderland Royal Hospital and with the Gateshead Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A full range of Nuclear Medicine services are provided including:

Research projects include a comparison of different therapy regimes for eradication of H. pylori infestation using C14 urea breath tests to assess the outcome of therapy.
