Trolley with lifting platform and shielding. Technetium generators are used in almost all nuclear medicine departments and are typically replaced weekly. This trolley was developed to minimise the manual handling and radiation hazards associated with the weekly operations of installing a replacement generator in a nuclear medicine radiopharmacy. It is a manual handling aid, including a lifting mechanism, which assists both horizontal and vertical movement of the generator. It also provides additional shielding in the form of a lead container fitted to its platform into which the generator is placed whilst manoeuvring it within the radiopharmacy and subsequent removal through a public area to the decay store.
Prototype design agreed with Bright Technologies who are constructing it.
