An ambulatory system has been developed by physicists at Freeman Hospital to allow bladder tests to be more private. After catheter insertion, patients can walk around the hospital and the bladder can fill naturally. The catheter is connected to a device which records and stores pressure data in a solid state memory. The patient also wears an electronic nappy to detect leakage, and a meter which monitors flow rate can also be connected. This test is particularly useful for those patients who have overactive bladders.
