Research grant

Research into non-invasive pressure monitoring on patients with hydrocephalus shunts has been extended, thanks to grant of nearly £50,000. Kathryn Banister, lain Chambers and David Mendelow (Neurosurgery) at Newcastle General Hospital will continue to monitor volunteers to determine the range and variability of normal responses. Measurement will also be made in patients who are having invasive monitoring carried out to determine the sensitivity and specificity of the test.
