Two state-of-the-art ultrasound scanners have recently been purchased by RMPD for use in Sunderland Royal and Newcastle General Hospitals. These new machines will benefit those patients who have had a mini stroke or lower limb arterial disease. The HDI soon ultrasound scanners are manufactured by Advanced Technology Laboratories and developed by former RMPD employee, James Jago who now works for ATL in Seattle. The high-resolution scanner enables disease within arteries to be more clearly defined and classified.
RMPD provides a vascular ultrasound service at four vascular laboratories across the region: Newcastle General, Freeman, Sunderland Royal and Dryburn Hospital in Durham.
