Reporting the results of bone density scanning used to be time consuming - but now the findings are available at the press of a button - thanks to software developed through the RMPD at Darlington Hospital.
Physicist, Steve Chandler, devised a package where results of scans can be copied onto the hospital computer network. The consultant rheumotologist can then view the results in his office. The software gives an interpretation of the results and provides a menu of possible treatments. He can then select an option from the menu and print a letter to send to the referring GP. This simple procedure, which has been available since March, saves time for everyone.
