Dr John Allen was awarded an IPEM Travel Bursary Award to undertake an academic visit to Santiago de Cuba in November 2006. There, he visited the Biofísica Médica department of the Universidad de Oriente, and the Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico "Saturnino Lora" which holds the Regional Cardiology Centre. JA has since been invited to have the title of Visiting Professor at the University in recognition of the proposed collaborative research between centres.
