Each year the County Durham and Darlington Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Chairman's Quality Award is given to an individual whose contribution to healthcare has an impact not only on a Trust-wide basis but also with much broader implications for health.
I am pleased to report that the winner of the Chairman's Quality Award for 2006 is Dr David Harrison, Head of our Durham Unit. David has been leading a team of Trust Surgeons developing a non-invasive optical technique to predict the success or otherwise of surgical wound healing, a topic that has important implications in the prevention of wound infection following surgery. Our congratulations go to David for this excellent achievement.
