The Regional Medical Physics Department undertakes research and development often in collaboration with clinical colleagues from a wide range of disciplines based in many of the north of England's hospitals. This involves work ranging from formal research undertaken with research grant funding to pre-protocol research aimed at improving the services with which they are associated.
Approximately 150 peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations are made each year by the Department's staff. In addition a number of patents have been granted for work undertaken within the Department and in collaboration with professional and commercial colleagues.
